Question: Mom is 92. Five feet tall ...112 lbs....In the past she has been diagnosed with atrial fibriliation and cong heart failure, and high blood pressure. These 3 are generally controlled with meds. All are quite controlled now. And the following ---vit D , cranberry 500 ( for mild uti) , co q 10 ( heart), probiotic, B 12 shot every month----occasional Immodium liquid for diarrhea. She has been sleeping more recently and gets sleepy after these meds are taken. She wants me to ask if there could be a medicine- related cause for the low energy and excessive sleep she's having!!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Greetings to your mother and wish her good health.
Metoprolol and Hctz can produce tiredness, low energy and sleepiness from the same.
Try reducing the dose of these to half, one at a time, monitoring her blood pressure.
Also please have her hemogram, thyroid and kidney functions tested.
Best wishes

Brief Answer:
Anemia contributory
Detailed Answer:
She has reduced kidney functions and anemia resulting from the same. This also contributes to her low energy and tiredness. It may be worth checking her Thyroid functions and if low, correction is simple and would give her more energy.
