I started taking hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 almost 2 weeks ago along with Diovan 160/12.5 & Metoprolol 100mg, both of which I ve been on for 5 yrs. Now my blood pressure is up to 181/82 from 151/80. What shall I do? I am 72 yrs. old, wt. 209 hgt. 5 8 .
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic medication used to treat high blood pressure and edema, can cause several side effects. Common side effects include increased urination, electrolyte imbalances (such as low potassium levels), dizziness, increased sensitivity to sunlight, gastrointestinal issues, and rare cases of sexual dysfunction.
Regarding your uncontrolled blood pressure, please visit a healthcare provider. However, it's important to remember that not everyone will experience these side effects, and some individuals may have different reactions. If you have concerns about potential side effects, it is best to consult your healthcare provider.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
