Can Miralax Cause Frequent Episodes Of Diarrhea And Nausea?
Please, stop miralax!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
I am so sorry to hear about this diarrhea and all the inconveniences this has caused you. Visiting the ER twice last weeks means this us very serious and needs real attention. I have a few recommendation for you.
1. I can see you are still on miralax. Miralax is used for constipation and should be stopped in the event of diarrhea. This is making your symptoms of diarrhea and dehydration worse. I recommend that you stop taking this drug immediately.
2. With IBS and diarrhea, I will recommend you take Imodium to avoid having frequent watery stools and its associated complications. This way, the frequency of watery stools and dehydration would drop significantly.
3. Chronic diarrhea may be common in persons with gallbladder surgery because of low bile acids that aid in the digestion of fats. This way, diarrhea becomes worse with fatty meals. This can be addressed by using bile acid sequestrants such as cholestyramine. Ask your doctor about this as a possible cause of your symptoms and the possibility of it being managed.
4. This is the most important of all: ALWAYS DRINK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. WE ONLY GET DEHYDRATED FROM DIARRHEA WHEN WE FAIL TO DRINK ENOUGH.
I hope these help. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
