Can Mucinex Be Taken For Cough And Chest Tightness?
Question: Tight chest no voice but not head or sinus. Some coughing but tight cough. Mucinex? Help?

It's hard for me to know what is going on with you without a more complete history and exam. But you can try Mucinex - with a lot of water. It works by drawing water to secretions which thins them out.
If your cough is productive of discolored sputum and if you have a fever, then you may need to go in for a chest X-ray. But otherwise you can try the Mucinex. If you find that you are getting worse (such as increased fever) then do go in to be examined.
In addition to Mucinex, hot tea and broth, and vitamin C (with or without zinc) may make you feel better too. Be sure to get plenty of rest to allow your immune system to do it's job.

Thanks I haven't been coughing up anything wanted to get it loosened. I have been checking oxygen and I'm 95-6 when sitting about 90-91 when moving in kitchen but dong feel i hear any lung congestion (have had pneumonia twice) which is why I want to get this and not have it develop. Unusual no sore throat or head congestion just tight chest and no voice at all. Weak but can get around to fix soup etc. so I have mucinex dm and mucinex chest which is the one I figured I'd take after reading ur answer.
