Question: Hi I have just found out I am around 5-6 weeks pregnant. I did not expect to get pregnant due to my PCOS and did. I was taking Norco 10/325 and tramadol 50mg and bystolic before I found out I was pregnant. I was taking norco and tramadol everyday a few times a day. I am very concerned for the risk I have placed on my unborn child can u please let me know if there is a risk for birth defects due to this medication.

Brief Answer:
Pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I read your query and I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply.

1. These drugs can cause some defects in baby but not necessarily.

2. There have not been many studies or effects which warrants complete ban on use of these drugs in pregnancy.

3. Therefore I suggest you continue the pregnancy as these drugs may not cause defects in all babies.

4. As a precaution get ultrasound scan at 12th and 20th week of pregnancy to check if any defects exist ( which is rare).

Let me know if you have any more questions.

Regards
