Hi,

Bystolic (nebivolol) and Amlodipine are both medications used to treat high blood pressure. They work in different ways to lower blood pressure and can be used together to achieve better control.

Bystolic belongs to a class of medications known as beta-blockers. It works by blocking the effects of the hormone adrenaline on the heart and blood vessels, which can cause the heart to beat more slowly and with less force, and the blood vessels to relax and widen. This leads to reduced blood pressure levels.

Common side effects of Bystolic include fatigue, dizziness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, and insomnia. Less common side effects include shortness of breath, wheezing, depression, and sexual dysfunction.

Amlodipine is of a class of medication called calcium channel blockers. It works by relaxing the blood vessels and reducing the workload on the heart, which helps to lower blood pressure.

Common side effects of Amlodipine include headache, dizziness, flushing, and edema (swelling in the legs and ankles). Less common side effects include nausea, abdominal pain, and fatigue.

When taken together, Bystolic and Amlodipine can increase the risk of certain side effects such as low blood pressure, slow heart rate, dizziness, and fainting. However, these side effects are rare and generally occur when the medications are first started or the dosage is increased.

If you experience any unusual side effects or have concerns about taking these medications together, you should speak with your healthcare provider. They may adjust your dosage or prescribe an alternative medication to help manage your blood pressure.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
