Can Norethisterone Cause Irregular Menstruation?
Question: I took norethisterone to delay my period for a wedding. I took it September 22nd until October 1st. The wedding was September 30th. My usual period comes around the 24th-25th and lasts around 5 days. After stopping taking the norethisterone I started to bleed on October 8th, the 9th was extremely heavy bleeding. Today, October 10th I don't seem to be bleeding at all. Is this normal? And does this mean I will again be getting my period this month on the 24th or 25th for the usual 5 days?
I am confused as to how this all works.

Brief Answer:
this is normal
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to HCM,
The bleeding which started on 8th and lasted till 9th was normal to experience as a withdrawal bleed after stopping norethisterone within next 7 -10 days. Usually bleeding lasts for 3-4 days, so you may experience some spotting in next few days. Your next menses shall be due only by 8th of NOVEMBER and not 24th of this month.
