Can OCD Cause Thyroid Imbalance?
Question: Are there physical conditions that contribute to OCD like symptoms such as a thyroid imbalance or adrenal issue?
Brief Answer:
No other medical conditions that cause OCD
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your healthcare questions
Your client was recently diagnosed with OCD and started on lexapro. It is not uncommon for providers to make a diagnosis from the interrogation only and not do a physical exam or order labs. For a person with OCD there are no medical conditions that would mimic OCD.
If a person had depression then getting labs would be a benefit to rule out hypothyroidism or anemia but OCD does not have any medical condition that approximates the symptoms of OCD.
