Can Pantoprazole And Thyroxine Be Taken Together>
Question: I take Pantoprazole 40 mg daily. I was just prescribed to take L-Thyroxine 25mcg daily also.
The pill interaction checker did not indicate any problems if both drugs are taken.
The L-Thyroxine bottle label says "Take this medicine on an empty stomach, preferably 1/2 to 1 hour before breakfast." The label also has a caution read warning " Take this medication at least 4 hours before taking antacids or other products containing calcium, iron or zinc." The Pantoprazole ingredient list includes calcium stearate and iron oxide.
My understanding has always been to take Pantoprazole first thing in the morning before eating.
How should this medicine be taken, given that instructions for both meds say to take first thing in the morning, but the L-Thyroxine has a warning to "take this medication at least 4 hours before taking antacids or other products contain calcium, iron, or zinc, and Pantoprazole contains calcium stearate and iron oxide.

Brief Answer:
Medication interactions
Detailed Answer:
Take the L thyroxine 60 minutes before breakfast in the morning in the fasting state, with water.
Then an hour later take the Pantoprazole right before you start eating breakfast.
The calcium stearate and iron oxide in the pantoprazole are present in very small amounts which are insufficient to cause any major interaction with the L-thyroxine. Moreover, because you will be taking pantoprazole an hour after L thyroxine, it will further have no impact
