Suggest Medication For Discomfort In Throat
Hello, I diagnosed with acid reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disiease. I was given omeprazole 40mg (protonix) for 30 days, once a day before breakfast and ganaton 50mg,for 2 weeks, 3x a day before meal. My problem is the feeling of discomfort in my throat. I am 53years old, 78kgs, non-smoker and stop drinking alcohol almost a year ago. what shall i do to relieve the discomfort stuck in my throat. Thanks.angelito f ramos

The commonest causes I can think about are as follows:
* Granular pharyngitis with enlarged tissues in throat like lymphoid tissures
* GERD that is gastroesophageal reflux disease makes the gastric contents to come to the throat thereby causing irritation and discomfort
* Epiglottitis
* Stress and anxiety can cause similar symptoms of GERD and feeling lump in throat
I would advise you to consult your doctor for preliminary examination and investigations. Get started on symptomatic treatment in the form of anti-inflammatory and decongestant medicines. Povidone Iodine gargles. Continue Omeprazole and Ganaton. Ganaton helps in regularization of bowel movements; Metoclopramide is the best in class. Small frequent meals. Upper GI Endoscopy along with proper visualization of pharynx may help to rule out any lumps or cancer. The final treatment will be as per your detailed history, investigation and clinical evaluation.
