Can Peppermint Cause Green Stool In Infants?
Not due to peppermint.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Your baby's green poop can result from too much lactose(sugar). High volume feeds are invariably, high lactose feeds. When the excess lactose enters your baby's colon there may be increased fermentation, resulting in colic, gas and loose, acid stools. Try to give your baby smaller milk based feeds for a few days.
The decrease in frequency of stools is a normal variation. If the stool is not hard then there is no need to worry.
Babies with an intestinal virus or even a simple cold will sometimes have green, mucusy stools. Teething can also bring about green stools due to increased saliva (can also cause tummy upset)
A recent change in the baby's diet may also cause change in stool color.
There is nothing much to worry. Just wait and watch for the stool color for few days to come back to normal on its own.
If it is associated with loose stools and fever with poor feeding of the baby then you must consult your pediatrician for further examination and treatment.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You can give him formula milk during night time only if your breast milk is not sufficient. Formula milk can cause constipation. Breast milk is the best for your baby.

Any gum problem is less likely.
Detailed Answer:
The baby does not have to put much extra effort to suck the breast milk. It is rather a healthy exercise for him. If there is any swelling of the gums then it needs to be examined to find out the cause. If the baby if holding and sucking the breast milk initially and then leaves after some time then it means that his stomach is full.

No.
Detailed Answer:
No. Do not mix water in breast milk. It does not need to be diluted. It is better to feed the baby directly from the breast rather than feeding with bottle. It can cause contamination of the milk and makes the baby more prone to infections.
