Can Prednisone Be Taken While On Blood Pressure Medication?

Question: My mother in law has come in contact with poison ivy and has recently had a heart attack so is on antihypertensives and a beta blocker. Should she consider taking low dose prednisone that she has on hand to help with puritis?

For this reason, I would recommend taking an oral antihistamine (loratadine or cetirizine) instead of steroids to help her with pruritus and use topically a steroid ointment.
