Can Prepopik Cause Seizures?
Question: My husband used prepopik before a scheduled colonoscopy. He also takes solifenacin (Vesacare) and
2 ace inhibitors for high blood pressure. In addition cymbalta which he stopped taking 10 days before the colonoscopy. While we were waiting to be called, he had a seizure (never had one before). Had no indication before...was feeling fine. His faced was purple, one side jaw dropped, arms and legs stiff. He did not lose consciousness. After was very confused and had no memory of the episode. Went right to emergency...electrolytes were fine and all of the many tests normal including brain scans. Now they have him on Keppra. He is still having confusion, has wet his pants 4 times since Friday and his one leg is rigid off and on. The doctors say it could not have happened because of the prepopik or a reaction of combined medications. It seems odd that it happened just after the bowel prep. In my mind there must be some correlation. We have an appt to see a neurologist in a week or so but wanted to see what a doctor on this site had to say. My husband is 71 and is in decent health. Within the last month passed a nuclear stress test with no problem. Could it have been the prepopik or an interaction with the prepopik with another med. Or is it even possible that the electrolytes were compromised but by the time they took blood, the electrolytes righted themselves?
