Question : Hi. I am XXXX. My father is taking Prolomet 12.5. But after taking it. His BP is reducing more. His normal range is 110/65. Is it advisable for him to take it . Also is Prolomet a cardiac tablet

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,

Prolomet-XL is beta blocker anti-hypertensive medication and used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiac conditions.

110/65 blood pressure is completely normal with Prolomet-XL 12.5 mg dose,so in my advise your father should continue with it and no need to worry about over reduction in blood pressure. In fact, 110/65 blood pressure is in very much desirable range with blood pressure medications.

Also,prolomet-xl is a good drug for heart pumping and your father should take it along with other medications as directed by his doctor.

Thanks Doctor, He stopped the tablet for two days from now and we tested again today it 110/65. It he takes it is reducing. Dosage is one tablet in morning.

Please suggest.

As I said earlier, 110/65 is normal but here I would want to know the blood pressure reading with medications means,

When you are saying 'it is reducing',kindly let me know the exact reading of blood pressure and then I may guide you better.

Also, it may happen that blood pressure reading comes normal after discontinuing medications for few days but that does not mean one should stop it completely.

However, if it comes above 100 systolic and 60 diastolic then there is no need to stop this medication. Prolomet-XL is also good drug for heart and heart rate apart pressure lowering effect.
