Can Prostate SR Be Taken While On Finasteride?

Question: Hello, I have been seeing a urologist for BPH for the last several years. I also take a supplement called prostate sr which contains 320mg of saw palmetto and 500mg of phytosterol blend which contain beta-sitosterol , campesterol, and others. I am considering taking finasteride 1mg for hair loss. I saw my urologist and told him this and he sees no problem with me taking the finasteride and said to also continue the prostate sr. I would like a second opinion, should I continue take the supplement while taking the finasteride ? I worry about the effects on PSA testing. thank you

Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have been known to have BPH and taking supplement Prostate Sr.

You are intending to take Finasteride for hair loss .

There is no harm in taking supplements with Finasteride However note that Fenesrearide is known to have side effect of loss of libido and reduction in semen volume .

You have to monitor your PSA levels frequently while on Finasteride

Hello, How frequently should PSA be monitored and should this be done by my dermatologist or urologist ? Right now I get a PSA test once a year before my urologist visit. thank you
