Can Protonix Cause Celiac Disease?
Question: I can't seem ti find any info about the interaction between Celiac, which I have been diagnosed by Endoscopy 20 years ago,and Protonix . I have seen where some say that Protonix CAUSES Celiac, but not the side-affects of Protonix on a Celiac patient. I have been taking Protonix for GERD,ulcer, etc, for about 10 years; 20 MG 2x day. I will appreciate any insight you can provide me.

I had not heard about this. It has been mentioned that few cases celiac disease where noted with long term use of pantoprazole. But when I searched for side effect profile of this agent I could not find this as one of the side effect.
To my knowledge I have not come across case of celiac disease which can be connected to long term use of pantoprazole.
I searched to know whether, Protonix contains gluten, found it doesn't. To be absolutely sure one can ask the manufacture as well.
Presently, I would have suggested that the drug can be consumed as I did not get any literature that suggest the stoppage of this agent.
