Can STD Or HIV Be Contracted Through Masturbation?

Posted on Tue, 5 Jan 2016
Question: Hi

I am a 37 year old male. Married and having two year old son.

I stay away from my family for job. I never had any sex with anyone except my wife. I indulge in self masturbation when away. Sometimes i let my semen on my stomach skin, undies overnight. once i fell asleep in bathroom leaving my penis with pre cum on floor

I had tested myself for hiv 1 & 2 in 2011 before marriage with non reactive results. From two months i had general itching redness and small red bumps on my neck, back and thighs which come and disappear. Some have left black pigments. I undertook sugar, lft, creatinine, thyroid and cbc tests all normal. I consulted a dermat mbbs cvd csd. He diagonised it as pityriasis and seboherric dermititis. I am on medication oral and topical shampoo and colbyte gel.

My wife and kid are perfectly healthy

My questions and worries
1) is it any std/hiv i am scared a lot
2) is the Diagnosis and treatment right
3) how long will this condition last.I am getting treatment for a week now.

Yours truly
XXXX

Brief Answer:
no std,pitryasis rosecea,follow doctor treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.I can understand your concern.

Small papular lesions over back neck probably point towards pitryasis rosecea.Your doctor has made a correct diagnosis .It will be better to have faith in him and follow treatment his treatment guidlines.

It is a harmless condition ,however it will take 2 to 3 weeks for complete resolution.Just apply a good emollient for faster recovery.

Possibilty of acquring std and hiv infection by mastribution is almost nil.So you need not to worry much.It will be better to stay relaxed.

I hope this will help you.Take care.

I wanted to know what are the triggers for this condition ( pityriasis r and pityriasis folliculities) I work in outdoor conditions and get tanker ground water for bathing also a very stressful job. Amongst other tests, i did my vitamin d3 and b12 tests too and found to be severly deficient. Can any of this be a trigger?

what all conditions cause immune supression other than hiv.

Brief Answer:
vitamin low levels can act as trigger.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up.

Pitryasis rosecea is a self limiting viral infection and it can occur in any person while pit.follicluits is a fungal infection occurring in hot humid climate. Both stress or tanker water do not have any direct impact on both conditions. However low level of vitamins can act as a triggering factor.

Other than HIV, cancer, raised blood sugar, lack of healthy diet and sleep, immunosuppresive drugs like steroids can lead to immuno-suppresion.

Thanks doc

Actually i moved on a vacation to my hometown in a humid and sweaty area from a cold and dry area. I got fresh bumps on my neck and few on back. Same itchy and red and then black after drying. My dermat has changed my oral medicines. Topical same. He told that it will take three to four weeks to clear off the entire infection as it was there for more than a month without medicine (local doc at workplace thought it to be food allergy and just gave levocitrizine 10) vanished for few days to recurr

Few doubts and questions

Is it normal?
Why are the bumps recurring? Actually old ones on shoulders and thighs vanished and dont itch and the skin too smooth.Few on chest and spine area remain and got new on the neck just below the left jaw. They were big and itchy now reduced and blackened.
Just worried by the shabby look of my face and neck. As a few good friends noticed.
Hope all clears in a month and doesnt reccur as having many sleepless nights (more of worry and less of itch)

Thanks again for your sound advice and counsel

It is normal to get new lesions for 1 to 2 weeks. It will be better for you to stay calm and relaxed and complete all treatment prescribed by your dermatologist. You can just add atarax 25 mg which will help you in reliving itching and also will provide sleep.

Take care.

I visited my dermat again as i am to go back to work next week. I told him my problem of recurring and persistent papules at new places.
He told me that medicene (oral) has to be taken for one to one and half months. He has changed a few medicines. Now medicines are A ORAL 1) Moterelief lc Sodium montelukast ip 10mg and levocitrizine dihydrochloride ip 5mg (daily one for fourty days) 2) six white small round tablets every alternate day two for three times 3) one medium red round tablet every alternate day 4) one large sunset yellow oral tablet (may be 500/250 mg) everyday for ten days to dry up and arrest the papules. B TOPICAL 1) ketokonazole ip 2% shampoo for hair and skin daily for ten days and biweekly then forth. Clobyte gm gold tubes to be applied mixed in water.

As my workplace is in a cold area, he said glycerine can be applied but no oil.

He has told to continue my vitamin deficiency and other tablets prescribed by family doc.

My questions

Is the treatment in the right direction (actually my dermat is an old and experienced fellow but doesnt have much time for long questions so the doubt.)?
why are the things recurring again and again? Actually look ugly on neck and face
Thanks

Brief Answer:
Stay on treatment, upload images.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for follow up and sorry for late reply.

In many skin disorders new lesions tend to appear even when the patient is on treatment. This is because most of skin medications take time to have their effect and work in body. So it will be better to stay on treatment and it is in right direction.

If you still have doubt it will be better to upload images. This will give me exact view of your condition.

Take care.

Brief Answer:
moisturizing soap, healthy diet.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,Thanks for follow up.

Glad to here that itching is reduced. Lesions also seem to be improving. It will be better to avoid oil application for a month or so.

A good moisturizing soap will help you to keep skin healthy. Take your meals at correct times. You can also have seasonal fruits in between meals. Take proper rest and try and relax. All these internal factors are more important for healthy skin.

Hope this will help you.

Take care.
