Can Thyronorm Be Taken During Pregnancy?
Question: I have just tested positive for pregnancy and in my regular blood test it appears that my TSH is 6.2. I have been advised to take thyronorm 50 mcg every morning. Can this harm my pregnancy
Brief Answer:
Thyronorm is safe
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. TSH of 6.2 is quite high for pregnancy and makes you hypothyroid. Thyronorm 50 mcg is the correct treatment and you should take it regularly in pregnancy to keep the TSH levels within normal limits( less than 3.5 in pregnancy).Deranged TSH levels can affect the fetus adversely.
Thyronorm or levothyroxine is completely safe for the fetus as well as for the mother.
