Question : we have a prescription cream for poison ivy that we think is for that. It is from last year. It is labeled: Thiamcinlon o.1% I am just double checking to make sure this is what it is for. My son gets poison ivy every year from fishing in various places. I neglected to write on the bottle from last years prescription. There is a significant amount of lotion in this bottle. Rather than taking him in for $175 dollars and another $100 for the cream. I just wanted to check. Thank you.

Thiamcinlon is a steroid cream. Steroid creams are used to treat the itching and irritation of poison ivy. He should apply it 2-3 times a day in a thin layer until it resolves. Other things to help with the itching are keeping the rash cool, avoiding friction and keeping the skin from getting too dry.
