Can Ureaplasma Remain Asymptomatic For Four Years In Women?
Can be an old infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
An infection with ureaplasma can stay in the body for many years and may be asymptomatic. It can remain undetected for years unless specifically tested for. It is more commonly seen in females but males can also carry it for years without showing any symptoms.
The infection that has been detected now may not be a recent infection.
Women with this infection often experience fertility problems and can even be rendered infertile. Infected mothers can also transmit the infection to their baby. Often the babies are born prematurely and are prone to diseases like pneumonia and meningitis. It can also affect the babies’ respiratory tract.
The infection is usually transmitted sexually and needs to be properly treated.

It will not affect baby if treated properly.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The infection can cause miscarriage also. It can cause an infection in the baby, cause a respiratory infection or a premature birth.
If you take the treatment properly for 2 weeks then you will be cured and the baby will not be affected. Erythromycin is safe for your baby. It is given for 2 weeks for complete cure. It is best to get a repeat vaginal swab culture done to detect any remaining infection.
Hope my answer is helpful.

These are not needed.
Detailed Answer:
Taking these for prophylactic purposes is not needed during pregnancy. You should not self medicate yourself during pregnancy without any indication.
