Can Valium Be Used To Treat Symptoms Of Alcohol Withdrawal?
Consultation
Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.
Yes, Valium is highly effective when used for detox and prevention of alcohol withdrawal in an inpatient setting. If you have made the decision to detox, you need to visit a detox center or hospital and they can provide you with Valium to prevent severe withdrawal.

I had 11 valium, I have taken 3 days of 3 pills of 10 mg each. I have 2 left, but I think I need a little more to get through this. 10 would be plenty. My doctor would send me to rehab, but my mom needs me and I am doing quite well.

I had some leftover valium from a previous detox--I know it should not be done that way. My mother just had a stroke in early November and my addiction did too.

Detailed Answer:
Detoxing at home is absolutely not safe. This can result in seizures, coma and death, which would certainly not be helping your mother. You need to go to detox and then inpatient rehab, as your doctor suggests.
