Posted on Tue, 6 Oct 2015
Question: Hi,
I am Hiv+ and Hepatitis B patient. I been taking Telura meds for past 2 years. As I have shifted to different city, today I went to meet other DR and he change my meds to Virotrenz and also prescribe Paternia+ to increase immune system.
I would like to know if it good to change my meds from Telura to virotrenz (I google and find they almost contain the same ingredient, aslo virotrenz is way more expensive).Let me know if Paternia+ is good to take too as i check this is was low sperm count meds( I am XXXXXXX this DR prescribe these meds without even checking the test). Please advice . Thanks

Brief Answer:
Both are not the same.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Greetings from Dr Divakara P
Thanks for posting your query.

Well Telura and Virotrenz are not the same .

Telura contains Tenofovir + Lavudine+Efavirenz
Virotrenz contains Tenofovir+ Emtricitabine+Efavirenz.

So they are not the same. I recommend you to insist for Telura only.

As of paternia is concerned yes it is given for patients with low sperm count , but it contains Anti oxidants which are helpful in boosting your immunity.

But it is not proven that anti oxidants will boost immunity in patients with HIV patient.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarification feel free to ask.

Regards.

Thanks, I will stick with Telura
regarding Paternia+ i already bought 2 months supply from this DR. Maybe I will take it for now till I finish

I did not feel any positive vibe from the DR i visited today. If you got any reference for HIV specialist Dr in XXXXXXX I will be very much appreciated. Thank you
