Can A Gluten Allergy Cause Tearing Up After Every Meal?
Question: I am tearing up after all meals. Lots of tears. I read on the Internet that it could be a gluten allergy. I am now trying a gluten-free diet. Two questions:
1. Could it be something else?
2. If indeed it is a gluten allergy could it become celiac disease?

Brief Answer:
Not necessarily due to gluten allergy. Further inputs needed.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. I would need you to expand on this problem. I need the following details:
* How long are you having this problem?
* How long does it take for the tears to stop?
* Is it linked only with taking food?
* Does it occur with all sorts of foods?
* What happens when you take spicy or hot food?
* What if you take food that is known not to contain gluten (you may try any gluten-free food)?
Let me know and I would try to help further.
Regards

Thank you for your prompt and detailed reply.
I have had this problem for several months
The tears stop a few minutes after they start
It only happens after a meal
NO effects from spicy foods
After I read that it could be a gluten allergy, I started a gluten-free diet and no more tears.
I am worried about developing celiac, if my diagnosis is correct.
Thank you in advance.

Brief Answer:
Get tested
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the update.
In such a case I would insist you to get your blood tested for Tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies (tTG-IgA). Please remember that all celiac disease blood tests require that you be on a gluten-containing diet to be accurate.
Upload the report once you get it. I will try to guide you further.
