Hysterectomy a feasible option in your case

Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Since you are having very heavy bleeding, with passage of clots, with fibroids in uterus, hysterectomy is a feasible option for you , considering your age.

Dr. XXXXXXX thank you for your reply.
Do you also think it's reasonable to wait and try for menopause? My current obgyn is very considerate in not wanting me to have surgery if I can just make it through. I'm grateful that my Dr. does not want me to have unnecessary surgery, but now I don't know where the line is when it is no longer healthy for me to bleed like this. Am I making sense? How do I know when enough is enough medically and not just because I am worn out and can't take any more?

Brief Answer:
Surgery is indicated in your case
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Surgery should always considered in a case of fibroid, if there is any one of the scenario:
1. multiple fibroids
2. size of fibroids is more than8-10 cm
3. Excessive and heavy bleeding with clots, causing anemia, weakness, lethargy.
4. Pressure effects leading to problems in urination or bowel pattern.
Since you are bleeding heavily, there is no point in waiting till menopause as it can take another5 years for the menopause to come.
I will sincerely suggest you to go for the surgery.
Hope you found the answer helpful.

Yes, thank you. I thought it was asking too much to wait for menopause as well. I am grateful for your advice, it gives me the second opinion I needed and confirms what I had already started to believe. My Dr. is perfectly willing to preform the surgery and has a very good reputation, it's just very sad and a bit hard to swallow. Thank you again for your time and consideration. (He does an ultra-sound every year to count and measure the fibroids, last count was 5 to 7 tumors within a range of 3cm to 11cm each.)
