I need to know more details about your cough like duration, intensity, number of episodes per day and night, any other associated symptoms like fever, wheezing, etc.
If you want to find the cause of cough as well then you can go for the tests. In fact from complete blood count you will get an idea about nature of your cough, whether it is allergy or infection. If you want to know how you do otherwise normally, then go whenever the cough is settled.
