Brief Answer:
No

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.

Polyp can not look like a peri-tonsillar abscess.

The appearance and the clinical symptoms and signs will not match at all.

Peri-tonsillar abscess is very painful, the first symptom will be inability to swallow, fever with chills/rigors, inability to open the mouth, redness and swelling of the whole side of the tonsillar area will be there. The lymph node at the angle of the jaw will be enlarged and painful.

Polyp will be a painless growth seen with minimal discomfort only.

The sleep is not going to be deep.
