Can Additional Dosage Of Metoprolol Be Taken After Missing It Previously?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Sep 2017
Question: I am on Metoprolol ER Succinate 75 mg once a day. I usually take this in the morning. I took my dose this morning but later at 5:00 p.m. I went to take another med and noticed my pills still in the Sunday spot. I thought maybe I forgot it this morning so took the 75 mg. Right after I took it I noticed the Monday slot and realized I had taken the Monday pill instead of Sunday's , so I took 2 doses. Will this be a problem?

Detailed Answer:
Hello Ma'am

After going through the medical details provided by you I would like to tell you that Metoprolol is basically a beta blocker which lower the heart rate.

As you have taken the double dose it might can lower your heart rate lower than usual. So need to be little on the cautious side.

Don't indulge yourself in more than usual physical activity as than can become tiring for you. Also if you drive don't drive for another 24 hrs as lower rate can cause you giddiness. Ideally you should take rest and keep monitoring your heart rate every 3 to 4 hrs.

Don't worry you will be fine.

I hope this information will relieve your worries.

Kind regards
