Brief Answer:
It is risky to take both together

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. Welcome to HCM.

Bupropion is a antidepressant drug which increases the level of dopamine and norepinephrine in brain. Bupropion increases risk of developing seizure. If you take alcohol and bupropion together, it may increase the risk of uncommon side effects such as seizures, hallucinations, delusions, mood and behavioral changes, depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, and panic attacks.

Sudden withdrawal from alcohol following regular or chronic use can also increase your risk of seizures during treatment with bupropion.

You should avoid using bupropion if you are taking alcohol regularly. At least take advice from your doctor before taking the combination of the drugs. When you are taking this combination of drugs you also should avoid activities which require concentration like driving, operating risky machinery.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have further query then feel free to ask. Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
It is not advisable

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing again.

It is not advisable to use an antidepressant and alcohol together. Both together will cause more harm then benefits.

What makes you think you need to drink alcohol? It will finally be a problem for you.

Least interaction between alcohol and antidepressant is with lexapro. But I wouldn't advise that course of treatment to anyone. If you feel you must take both together then visit your doctor and take advice.

Finally retire at 63 and have a nice routine with my husband....thus, the drinks! After an incidental finding of a 4 mm lung nodule....quit smoking...gained 30 pounds...feels like a death sentence.

Brief Answer:
Enjoy life but alcohol creates problems

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for writing again.

As per my knowledge about 7 units of alcohol in a week is acceptable for an adult woman. At your age the metabolising capacity of liver must have decreased further. So less than 7 units of alcohol is acceptable for you but I would not advise you to continue drinking.

Important matter here is why you have been taking bupropion? who has advised for that? Have you been depressed recently?

You have manage your diet properly and lose weight.
Alcohol is full of energy only and it kills your appetite. Regular alcohol intake will result in vitamin deficiency, particularly thiamine and also in obesity.

So if possible avoid taking it or take in limit.
