Brief Answer:
Yes it can be because of alcohol

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have read your query and attachments, the answer is that a patient can present with acute pancreatitis even after stopping alcohol.

Most of these people have pancreatic injury because of alcohol use which can worsen at any time.

However, if he is off alcohol one must also investigate for any other cause for pancreatitis like gall stones , high triglycerides or high calcium. Also try to confirm whether alcohol has been completely stopped as even a single episode of drinking can cause pancreatitis.

Hope this helps

Dr Samir Patil
