Can An Impulsive Fall Cause Loss Of Vision?
Syncopal or vasovagal effect
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for using HCM.
can understand your problem and feel concerned.
A jolting or forceful or impulsive fall, sudden in onset can cause an impact on the brain, with sudden alteration in the blood supply, resulting in syncopal or vaso-vagal effects.
This can lead to sudden dizziness, loss of vision, headache, dizziness, memory loss, nausea & clumsiness or clouded feeling.
Sometimes it can lead to concussion, which is an absolute medical emergency.
This is due to sudden adaptation of the brain due to the impact.
In high risk patients with aneurysm, cerebro-vascular accidents, space occupying lesions, or any raised intra-cranial conditions, the effect of the jolt can be clinically dangerous.
In your case, as you have already consulted your treating doctor as well as the neurosurgeon, with MRI & MRA Brain indicating no change, there is no need to worry at present.
I still request you to take rest, without stress to prevent further complications,
consult back to your treating doctor if you have headache, dizziness & seizures because the injury can be delayed in presentation in some cases (but not all)
Hoping that i have given you some satisfactory idea about your problem.
Please get back to me if you have any related doubt.
All the best, take care.
always welcome
