Can Chlamydia Re-occur?
Question: Hi, i would like to know if it is possible to catch Chalmydia and that the symptoms just appear a couple of months, even a year after ? Once you test positive to Chlamydia and treat it with antibiotics, is it possible that is comes back a year later without any new infection ?
Brief Answer:
It is possible to have longer window periods.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. It is possible for chlamydia to have longer window periods like 6 months or longer. If it is treated properly with antibiotic then it won't come back with out a second exposure. Usual antibiotic given are azithromycin or doxycycline. Again test should be done after 3 month to know whether infection is cleared. It can come back if not responded to antibiotic properly.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.

Welcome again.
Thank you for your follow up query.
It is possible to get a second attack of infection as you haven't complete the course of antibiotic. The causative bacteria can persist also. You and your partner both should be tested and treated for it again.
Let me know if anything not clear. I am happy to help you.
