Can Discontinuing Ashlyna And Starting Trinessa Help Treat Persistent Bleeding?
Question: Taking ashlyna for 3 weeks now. Had spotting with bad cramps the first week when I should have had my period, then a heavy period for 10 days, and the last few days have been heavy spotting. This is bothering my lady bits and becoming painful. I want to quit and go back on trinesssa but my doctor wants me to finish the full 3-month pack. If I stop today and start trinesssa in 3 days, is it safe? Do you think I could stop bleeding by next week or so? This is really getting old.
Brief Answer:
Can change the pill.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The spotting cramps and intermittent bleeding that you are having are common side effects of Ashlyna. If you want to quit then you can stop it and start with trinessa after 3 days but then you will have to use an additional protection like a condom for the first whole cycle after the change of the pill for contraception. This will help in stopping the bleeding in 7-10 days.
