Can Hepatitis-A Vaccination Be Given To A 9 Month Infant?
Question: My son is 9 months and 18 days and we went to doctor for influenza vaccination. but he gave him hepatitis A vaccination which was due at 18th month. is there any side effects. do we need to worry. what should we do now?
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry - hepatitis is indicated at 12 months - Nothing will happe
Detailed Answer:
Hi... Nothing to worry please.
Only thing is that the vaccine may not be effective and you need to vaccinate the baby at 12 months again with a booster at 18 months.
I suggest you use killed hepatitis vaccine available as Havrix 720 for the 12th month and the booster dose.
Please do not worry about vaccine being given early. Nothing will happen.
