Can Hepatitis-A Vaccination Be Given To A 9 Month Infant?

Question: My son is 9 months and 18 days and we went to doctor for influenza vaccination. but he gave him hepatitis A vaccination which was due at 18th month. is there any side effects. do we need to worry. what should we do now?

Hi... Nothing to worry please.

Only thing is that the vaccine may not be effective and you need to vaccinate the baby at 12 months again with a booster at 18 months.

I suggest you use killed hepatitis vaccine available as Havrix 720 for the 12th month and the booster dose.

Please do not worry about vaccine being given early. Nothing will happen.
