Question: I took of four month course of 21 pills of low dose contraceptives till october and got periods. The last day of my period was 27 october on the 4th month. I slepted with my partner on 31th of the last month of the contraceptives after my periods and even though he cumed outside my vagina. But I took an ipill in 12 hours and got bleeding after 5 days that is today.
Will the low does contraceptives I was taking stop my ovulation after the periods and not make any chance of me getting pregnant? I mean does the 21 pills stop ovulation after the periods when taken 21 days.

Brief Answer:
OCP PREVENTS OVULATION ONLY AS LONG AS YOU TAKE IT
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
The low dose contraceptives inhibit ovulation only as long as you take them.
If you did not take the contraceptives after your period, they will not prevent ovulation after your periods.
However, yes, chances of pregnancy are low because it was just the 5th day after your periods, when ovulation is less likely, plus you took the emergency contraceptive also.
All the best

So today is my 6th day after I took Ipill. Should I start taking the low dose contraceptives again now to stop ovulation?
Or will it not have any effect now?
Also, I got light spotting in the day and occasional abdominal pains. Does it indicate anything anything? Or is it just a sideeffect?
And I don't want to be pregnant in any case. Is there any medication now to stop it? How can I be sure whether I can or cannot.

Brief Answer:
ALL ANSWERED.
Detailed Answer:
Taking the low dose contraceptives in the middle of the cycle has no effect, only side effects.
The light spotting is a side effect of the I pill.
You have already taken the medication to stop it , that is the I pill.
Nothing more needs to be done now.
You would be sure that you are not pregnant only when you have your next period.
Remember please that the I pill can possibly prepone or delay the expected period by a week or more.
Take care.

And about my bleeding, I got it after 5 days of the Ipill. And today is my second day. Yesterday I got little blood, but today in the morning my flow increased, and I am releasing dark red jelly like fluids too occasionally. Rest is red blood.
And also light abdominal pains.
Is it because of Ipill?
Can it be periods? I got my last periods around 14 days back. And I used to have irregular periods before also.
Or can it be due to pregnency? How can I know.

Brief Answer:
SIDE EFFECTS OF THE PILL MOST LIKELY
Detailed Answer:
Yes, the bleeding and the cramps are because of the pill
It is less likely to be your periods.
It is too early to be due to pregnancy.
You would know what it was when you have ( or skip ) your next period.
Take care.
