Can Intense Pulsed-light Procedures Trigger Facial Nerve Pain?
Question: 2 weeks ago I had some nerve pain in my face - mostly in both chin up to ears area. It lasted from Thur. through the Memorial Day weekend. By Tue. it was much less then left - skin on face stayed sore for a few days more. I had this happen about 25 yrs. ago and it also went away. My concern immediately is my Dermatologist wants me to do the second series of Intense Pulsed-Light (IPL) a 3X procedure. I'm a little worried it may trigger this. I had the procedure in March -April and May of this year and needs to be done again to try and prevent XXXXXXX and squamous skin cancer from appearing. What do you think?
Brief Answer:
Can go for IPL sessions, don't think it will aggravate the pain
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic,
I have gone through your complaints and it seems to be trigeminal neuralgia.
Trigeminal neuralgia or pain per se is not a contraindication for IPL sessions .
Since currently, you are not having pain you can go for IPL sessions.
I don't think it will trigger the pain.
