Hello,

Thanks for posting your query. Eating yolk of a rotten egg can cause food poisoning. Rotten egg and yolk is often associated with bacteria like salmonella and staph aureus (less often). In such cases, look out for symptoms like nausea, vomitngs, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and sometimes fever. Illness may begin between 7 hrs to 3 days after eating contaminated food and may last for 2-3 days.

If your daughter shows any of the symptoms then get her examined from a physician. Food poisoning is not XXXXXXX but early treatment is better so that dehydration does not set in.

To prevent this, maintain adequate fluid levels by giving her clear liquids or oral rehydration solution. Also avoid alcoholic, caffeinated, or sugary drinks and apart from fluids, gradually give light and easy to digest foods like rice, wheat, breads, potatoes, low-sugar cereals and lean meats. If the symptoms are severe then you daughter may need antivomiting and antidiarrhea medications along with antibiotics. However most of the cases are manageable with adequate fluids and light foods.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.
