                                    Brief Answer:
Medical treatment is tried first for 6mm stone.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me advise you, that a 6mm stone may flush out, with liquids intake upto 3 litres(15 glasses), daily.
Also, take some smooth muscle relaxants like Tamsulosin and anti-spasmodics.
A potassium magnessium citrate Syrup or tablets, also help in dissolving the stone.
You have not mentioned site of stone. There are different sites in the kidney or in the tube from kidney to bladder.
Only, if the medical treatment is not effective, on repeat scan in one months' time, and if you've repeated episodes of pain, do you need to consider Lithotripsy.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
