Question: Can mitral valve prolapse go away? 10 years ago after an echocardigram I was told I had slight MVP w no regurgitation or any abnormalities. Today I had another echo & was told there is no sign of mvp & heart is normal. How is this possible?

Brief Answer:
It depends on echo cardiologist interpretation...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.

The detection of the presence of prolapse is based on the interpretation made by the cardiologist based on echocardiogram results.

Different doctors will evaluate the same valve in different ways based on their personal experience. There's no obiective way to evaluate mitral valve prolaps. Moreover the evaluation may varey from heart parameters such as HR.

This explains why prolapse has been noted 10 years ago and not by the most recent echocardiogram.

Hope it was of help!
