Hi,I am Dr. Joan F. Tryzelaar (Cardiac Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I found out that I have mitral valve prolapse on Monday. I am going in for a echocardiogram on Friday. I was researching MVP and found something about Graves syndrome. Months ago I had a problem with vertigo, namely BPPV, and during research came upon Graves syndrome then. I decided to do a search combining MVP and BPPV to see if there is any correlation. Any ideas?
MVP occurs in 5 to 15% of the general population under 40 but is much more prevalent among patients who have autoimmune thyroid disease like graves, hashimotos disease.
