Can Nerve Conduction Test Damage Nerves Or Cause Permanent Problems Like Breathing Difficulty?

Question: hi, i had a nerve conduction test and ultrasound of my diaphram to test if my diaphragm muscles we're functioning normal. It came back normal but after the test my breathing felt worse. My left diaphragm feels tight, kind of flexes when I breath. My neck is also sore. Is it possible this test damaged a nerve or caused a permanent problem? any help would be appreciated.

Hello,
Thanks for the query.

Regarding the nerve conduction test and the ultrasound of the diaphragm, both are non invasive tests and does not have any after effects. These do not cause any damage to the nerves. The soreness in the left diaphragm and the neck could be due to some other reason, probably musculoskeletal pain.

So do not worry as these would have not caused any problem to you. Mild pain killer like Tab.Tylenol twice a day with muscle relaxant should be able to get you out of the problem.

Thanks again for the query. I hope you found my response to be helpful and informative. If you have any additional concerns I would be happy to address them.

Sincerely,
