Hello,
It sounds like you may be experiencing side effects from the
amoxicillin, including gastrointestinal symptoms such as
bloating, gas, and pain. I advise to stop taking the medication and report this to your caring doctor. Depending on the severity of your symptoms, your healthcare provider may recommend an alternative medication or treatment for your condition.
In the meantime, you may find some relief from your symptoms by:
- Avoiding foods and drinks that may exacerbate your symptoms, such as spicy or acidic foods, caffeine, and alcohol.
- Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- Taking probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that will alter intestinal flora. Taking probiotics will restore the GI flora alleviating your actual symptoms.
- Taking over-the-counter antacids or acid reducers, such as
ranitidine or
famotidine, to help alleviate your symptoms.
- Applying heat to your chest and diaphragm, such as with a
heating pad or warm compress, to help alleviate pain and discomfort.
However, I encourage to see your caring doctor in case there is no improvement or symptoms will get worse.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
