Can One Have Citro-Mag Before A Colonoscopy?
Question: I have a colonoscopy tomorrow at 1:30 pm. My doctor's office has been closed over christmas, so I can't phone with questions.
I'm to take a 300 ml bottle of citromag tomorrow morning at 7:00. The dr's instructions say to then drink clear fluids up until 10.30; no amount is specified.. The instructions on the bottle differ. They say to drink one full cup of water every 4-6 hours before taking the citro-mag, then 1 every hour afterwards.for 3 hours. This would mean I'd have ot wake up at 3 am. Do I need to do this?

As per the instructions given to you, you can have the full cup of water before going to bed, e.g. at midnight. Then take citro-mag as prescribed.
Water is needed to keep you well hydrated. Citro-mag will help cleanse your colon prior to colonoscopy. This is accompanied by lost of fluids. You need to replace them, that's why you are asked to drink water prior and after taking citro-mag.
You are allowed to drink water (clear fluids) up to 4 hours before the procedure, that's why your doctor asked to drink until 10 a.m.
The preparation should have started a few days before the procedure as given in the following link:

so, do not worry if you do not wake up at 3 a.m.; just start preparation from 7 a.m onwards as prescribed...
