Brief Answer:
safety unknown

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You had unprotected sex with your husband and you are 3 months post partum and breast feeding. You are concerned about getting pregnant and considering using the plan B pill to prevent pregnancy. You can use the pill but there is no safety data on breast feeding with the morning after pill. You could hold your breast feeding for the next 2 days after taking the pill. I would recommend pumping your breasts for 2 days but discarding the milk. your child could use formula or you can possibly get mothers milk from a milk back for those two days.

If decide not to use the pill the good news is that breast feeding will reduce your risk of pregnancy. It is not super reliable but it will influence your chances of pregnancy.
