Can One Have Strep Throat Without A Sore Throat?
normally would have at least mild pain
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Strep throat is infection of the throat by streptococcal bacteria.
A sore throat is usually always present though the pain may vary from mild to severe.
If you are experiencing even only mild pain it is possible but if there is no pain at all then it is highly unlikely.
The most common causes of coughing up sputum would be post nasal drip of mucus to the back of the throat or bronchitis (can be viral or bacterial).
If it is not repeated then no treatment may be necessary.
If you have a history of post nasal drip then using a topical nasal spray would help.
If you have recent onset persistent coughing which may be due to bronchitis then additional treatment would be needed- eg a mucolytic (medication to break up the mucus eg guaifenesin, mucomyst)
I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
