First, there is need to know if the offending microorganism(s) is identified and its sensibility against antibiotics is assessed.

If this is done, it is possible to the brainstem abscess and one of the phases of treatment could include oral antibiotics too, besides i.v. antibiotics.

Best way to treat brainstem abscess is to use first intravenous antibiotics with good brain tissue penetration, that have been tested as sensible after culture, and stereotactic guided aspiration.
