Can Pain And Stiffness In Neck And Back From An Injury Cause Whiplash?

Question: Hi! Last night i was at a friends house petting her dog and the dog (which is a smaller poodle) jumped on me at full force from the side and went into my left arm shoulder. My arm twisted back and my neck got stiff and back hurt. This morning when i woke up my arm is sore. This cannot cause a serious injury correct such as whiplash or a concussion? My friends laughed at me yesterdY bc i was worried and they said this happens all the time. Im just a little more sensitive bc i had a bad car accident almost 2 years ago where i suffereed a concussion and neck injury. Thank you

I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The mode of injury doesn't seems to be serious. The pain and stiffness may be due to sudden movement leading to muscle spasm.
I would like to get few more details.
Is there any weakness, sensory loss in limbs?
Any urinary complains?
Any radiating pain from neck to hands?
For treatment you can take pain killers with muscle relaxant, local analgesics ointment.
The problem should improve in a weeks time.
If the problem increases or new symptoms arises, Xray of cervical spine should be done.
Avoid lifting heavy objects overhead.

Hi. Thank you so much! I dont have any pain radiating to my hands. My neck feels sore and everything is stiff. My mom who is a practioner says its probbaly a good thing this happened bc i need to get use to real life and not be afraid to pet dogs and its good for my muscles so i live my life without so much anxiety about hurting my neck. See after the car accident i developed vertigo so i worry any injury will set that off
