Can Pharmaceutical Antihistamines Cause Rebound Prohistamine Effects?
No inhibtition cause prohistamin like effects.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing to Health Care Magic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.
There is no scientific prohistamin effect as such but definitely the histamin it was blocking starts getting produced, the body is not quite used to histamin so it may react unexpectedly . There are these number of factors which cause prohistamin type signs and symptoms.
Quantity of histamin is same as was prodcued before using antihistamin but effects are more pronounced as no more inhibtion is there.
I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.

Here is another way
Detailed Answer:
Hello Thanks for writing back, ok let me tell you in another way I hope this will make better sense to you.
Before antihistamine:
Body is producing, suppose 5mg histamin again allergens, body has its own defences to neutralise the effect of this 5mg but body's own defences can only compensate with 2mg histamin rest 3mg causes it's effect and signs of allergy are produced.
Antihistamin therapy:
You got allergy and you started taking antihistamin , that same 5mg is still there in body but it's not recieved by the receptors so receptors think there is no histamin now in the body, body keeps producing 5mg but receptors are thinking there is no histamin and they give signal to the body to switch off defence mechanisms which were neutralising 2mg histamin.
After Stopping Antihistamin:
Body still has 5mg histamin but as body has switched off defence mechanisms so previously 3mg was causing allergy now 5mg will cause allergy and this will have an exagerated response and patient will feel he has got almost double the allergy with same exposure to allergen.
I hope this made you understand things better.
If there are doubts I am here to alleviate them.
Regards.
Dr.Ahmad
Let us say that a person has year-round allergies. And let us say this person happens to produce 5 mg histamine a day, but that only 2 mg of that histamine is neutralized by the body's defense mechanisms, as in your example. Would this therefore mean that after 30 days of antihistamine use there would be 90 mg of histamine for the body to have to deal with if antihistamines were discontinued (3 mg net daily histamine x 30 days = 90 mg histamine)? And would this therefore mean that after 1 year of antihistamine use there would be 1080 mg histamine for the body to have to deal with if antihistamines were discontinued (90 mg histamine per month x 12 months = 1080 mg histamine)? If this is the case then it seems like continuous antihistamine use is training the body to be 100% dependent upon antihistamines.
Our body has mechanisms to deal with this.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
1) our body is very perfectly built .
2) With short term processes like the one who controlled 2mg there are long term processes as well who keep eliminating extra chemicals from body including histamin otherwise our life wouldn't have been possible.
3) There is no 2+2 =4 in human body there are many mechanisms which interact with each other we only end up chosing ones that are our particular topic at that very time.
When histamin is in excess body might not be able to controll it for the time being but it develops some long term defences which enable survival like there are signals for the body to down regulate mast cells which produce histamin.
Liver and kidneys keep throwing histamin out or keep metabolising it so it doen't really accomulate... body doesn't really get dependant upon antihistamins you stop them it might affect for 4..5 days till body switches on other processes which regulate antihistamin...that is how we survived since billion of years when we didnt have antihistamins and used to get allergies...long term mechanisms do eliminate excess histamin ...they may be slow and one may get symptoms of allergy but they arent too slow to put your life in danger.
Best regards.Dr Ahmad.
