Can Severe Seasonal Allergies Cause An Enlarged Thyroid?
Question: Can severe seasonal allergies cause an enlarged thyroid, or can a malfunctioning thyroid in a type 1 diabetic cause severe seasonal allergies?
Brief Answer:
No
Detailed Answer:
To the best of my knowledge of published medical literature there is no known well-established connection between seasonal allergies and an enlarged thyroid.
Likewise, there is no known association between a malfunctioning thyroid in a person with type 1 diabetes as a potential cause for seasonal allergies.
However, other types of skin conditions can occur in type 1 diabetics who have thyroid problems. So it is important to treat the thyroid state properly for optimal skin health, and in general too.
