Question: can spironolactone cause low sperm count, I have recently been trying to father a child and couldn't get my partner pregnant, so I have had semen analysis done and I have a very low sperm count(6% motility).the doctor suggest, it might due to the spironolactone I am on.
Brief Answer:
Yes
Detailed Answer:
Hi
You are right. Spironolactone does cause reduced sperm count and motility.
Please visit the doctor who prescribed this drug and ask if it can be modified.
If not only option left is to undergo ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection) technique which introduces sperms into egg. Its an extension of IVF Procedure.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
