default
Posted on Tue, 17 Jun 2014
Question: could infection have been introduced into my right kidney with a stent placed there for a kidney stone attack? It felt as though something popped when he roughly inserted the stent into my right kidney.

Brief Answer:
kidney stone occurs due to infection in urine

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to HCM .

Usually stones are formed due to infection in urine. So already there will be infection when the stent would be placed.

But there is possibility of introduction of infection while inserting stent if proper aseptic measures are not taken.

The popped sound may be produced during the time when the stent was passed into calycial system of kidney or when breached the kidney capsule. It is normal nothing to worry about it.

Hope I have answered your query . If any further queries are there I would love to help.
